May 17 new York Hannah 16

Wednesday May 13th 1863.

This morning the sun shone brightly -- we are all in good health -- and ought to be grateful for our many blessings. at 11 O. clock I took Sheridan with me, and went down in the street Cars to Mrs Pieks house on Michigan Avenue -- theshe? had an auction of all their furniture I bought some things -- then went to the Office met Sister Licinia there -- Mr Hunt took Mr Badger Mrs? Hilton & myself to Mrs Johnsons and we had Cream Cakes and Champagne -- we then went shopping -- after we got through Mr Hilton & wife came home with us and spent the evening untill eleven , O. clock -- Mr Bigelow also came in and we had a nice game of Iuchre -- Mr Hunt and Mr Frank Newcomb took cars for Louisville -- Mrs Hoyne came in to invite Mr Badger and I to the Grasshopper Club at her house --

Thursday May 14th 1863.

It is cool to day but beautiful -- we all well -- our furniture has come and we shall be very comfortable -- we go to night to Mrs Hoyne,s Mr Bigelow goes with us. Belle,s Music teacher came to day -- Mr Bulter of New York also went with us to the club -- we had a delightful evening -- returned home at two -- Mr Frank Honore gave me a boquet

Friday May 15th 1863

It is again very beautiful -- I employed myself all morning -- then went down town to do some shopping -- returned home late -- we all well --

Saturday May 16th

Eva went to the Dentist early -- but did not return, untill three O.clock. I was uneasy about her for fear something had happened to her -- I went down town, met Licinia & Alice -- stayed a little while and Mr Badger came home early -- and picked up all his clothes -- Hannah Keith left to night for a while?

Sunday May 17th

I went with Belle & Eva to Mr Thomas,s church -- missed the car, and walked -- Mrs Flint brought me home in her Carriage. Mr Badger went out to his Fathers, and brought Ariana, Licinia, Ella, his Father, and Hutchings and Horace in with him -- they all walked in -- he then packed his Valisse and myself and four children -- also Octave -- all went to the Depot with my husband to see him off, our coloured man took his valisse -- the number of our party was 16 -- Mr Badger went to New York. Eva lost her blue silk bow. we all well -- I wrote home --

Monday May 18th

Again a fair day -- we all well -- Mrs Cannon & Mrs Buchannan came to see me -- we still are busy finishing our house furnishing after tea Mr Staar and Mr Whetherbe came in -- we had a nice game at Iuchre --

Teusday May 19th

Received a letter from my husband -- he arrived safe -- I went down town -- made some purchases -- Hannah came to say her Brother is dead
