Thursday May 7th 1863
It has been a fine day -- we have everything packed. will move to morrow. Miss Whitehouse and the Brothers came to see me -- so did Fannie Patrick and Mrs Allport. I received a letter from home, all well there. at four Mr Badger myself and children all went over to Mrs Pieks? to see her furniture that she wants to sell -- as she is going to Pike,s Peak to live -- I went and made my regrets to Mrs Sharp that I could not attend the club at her house, Mr Hunt came in and spent evening with us he gave me his Photograph, Mary Tyler Johnson with others has been sent to the line of Dixie -- for being Secesh -- there is now going on a fearful battle on the Rappanhanock. so far the federals have been repulsed with great loss. it was a mistake I learn about Mary Johnston -- it was not her --
Friday May 8 --
All morning busy getting everything ready to move at two, O. clock -- it is a lovely day -- the cart came and commenced moving our things I shipped and my husband went to Mr Whites house that we have rented -- and received -- at six we stopped for the evening -- Mr Bigelow came and Mr Hunt to see us -- So did Henry Wheeler -- we all well --
Saturday May 9th 1863.
All hands engaged in moving things -- good Weather -- Mr Busch came in at three O. clock. and Mr Smith,s family moved in before we got out -- we left the house at five I felt much regret at parting with my old and beautiful residence, that we have spent so much time and so very pleasantly -- we arrived at our new destination at half past five -- found things very comfortable -- Mr Hunt came in to tea and we played Iuchre untill eleven. O. clock.
Sunday May 10th
It sprinkles to day -- Mr Badger gone to Sunday school. I have not been out all -- we all well -- but not at all Settled --
Monday May 11th
Again the weather is good -- i went down town to get some carpets and furniture -- bought two Chamber Setts -- and four Carpets. it rained and Mr Badger brought me home in a hack. we have not made much headway in arranging house untill carpets are down --
Teusday May 12th
Mrs Haddock called to see me -- again I went down street to select articles for house use -- while at the Office Brother Hilton came in from Louisville -- Mr Hunt Mr Badger & myself all went to the Depot to see Mrs Hilton and Ella Badger. they look well -- their Car smashed up -- but no one killed. they were many hours behind time -- we stayed at home all evening.
