Tuesday Dec 8th 1862

We went into the reception room at Depot and waited there untill eight Oclock. then got into the Cars and started for Louisville we arrived at three O'Clock - almost two hours behind time - David met us in the Omnibus - he looks very well - all at the house were very delighted to see us - I had when I got into the house a raging sick headache - my Mother had a fine dinner for us. but I had to go to bed, and in the morning was well again -

Wednesday Dec 9th

This is Sister Virginia & reception day - the weather is splendid. like early September - it is so warm -- Mrs Nast called to see me - so did Emma Tyler and Sister Mrs Bacon - also Ellen Morris and Mrs Wm Morris Miss Mary Rawson & Ellen Frye - all very peased to see us. Sister Belle and Brother Tom Shreve took tea with us - Sheridan has a bad spell to night of Indigestion - I had to vomit him - I sent for Dr Rogers to see Bella - he thinks her trouble is rising in the ear -

Thursday Dec 10th

I went to bed with raging sore throat and cold in my neck from putting on a thin dress. Mrs Tucker came to see me so did Mrs Harrison Mrs Robt Tyler and daughter Mrs Charles Johnson - also Mrs Hopkins and Mrs Eaches - also Mrs David - at four we went out riding Mr Gunter came and gave Belle & Eva their first music lesson - Annie Hunt & Lizzie came by to see Belle Ellen gone out to spend the night with Ellen Tom

Friday Dec. 11th

Still lovely weather -- my throat very sore - I had fever all night - baby much distempered with a new tooth. little Prathers came to see children Lin spent the day with us - also Mattie Belle & Tom. Mr Ben Adams died at nine Oclock of consumption. Virginia and I went to Mrs Murphy to be fit for Moire Antique dresses. Belle received a letter from her Pa she better to day

Saturday Dec 12th

It is raining. Mrs Hunt came in to see me and had to stay an hour on account of the rain - all the children are better - I still have ulcerated sore throat quite bad - both Sister Virginia & Belle talk of giving our children parties

Sunday Dec 13th

It is sunny and warm but damp - I went to Christ Church with Belle Eva Ada Sheridan - and my sister Faulds? family - after church we all went to Mrs Ben Adams to see the corpse - Mr Adams looked very natural. he was carried to St. Pauls Church had had a very large funeral. there were at least 40 in the Procession with the family as mourners - some relations some friends Sister Belle spent the evening here - Belle is not yet well of her severe cold - I will write to Mr Badger in the morning - I have seen many of my friends. they all look well -- report tonight says the federal army is whipped badly at Fredricksburg Virginia
