Tuesday Dec. 1st 1862

It is bright but cold - I went visiting - called on Rutters - Mrs Carver Mrs Clyde Mrs Peck & Jones. invited Miss Brown Miss Walker Misses Gurnee Miss Ward Miss Flint Miss Emerson Miss Stewart Miss Waller Miss Clark to be with me new years Afternoon - sent regret to Hortons party Mr Hunt Walter Hilton Mr Wilson & Mr Hayworth all called to see us Miss Cunningham and Mrs Gutherie called to see me - I called to see Mrs Dudley Miss Cunningham & Mr Sharp - Sheridan sick to night. baby too - with cold.

Wednesday Dec 2d 1862

It is a pretty day but cold. Sheridan very sick - he had 4 spasms last night and a very strong one at 2.Oclock to day - we think caused by indigestion. Belle left school to day - for to prepare for her visit to Louisville. Mrs Hilton & Ella came to see me - I am making Ada a red Velvet cloak - received a letter from home - Octave sick to day -

Thursday Dec 3 1862

Sheridan very sick today - so is Belle Eva & Ada - all with Fever headache & sore throat. Mrs Thomas called to say Good Bye so did Mrs. and Miss Rogers - Mr Badger gone tonight to teachers meeting at Chruch. Ben Adams very ill - I did not go to the Sherman House party to night

Friday Dec 4th

Mrr Badger bought me a very handsome new trunk - children a little better. I sent for Dr Small. he says they have influenza I wrote home - Mr Hunt took dinner with us Brackett Badger went to New York to night. Mrs. Ludington called to invite us to her home Monday night.

Saturday Dec 5th 1862

It looks like snow - all the children still with influenza Mr Hunt dined with us. I went down town and bought Ada white furs & Jamie a gray fur hat. Mattie a black velvet - Tom a black fur and Mattie Belle a white velvet hat. Jamie a gray plush cloak Mattie a black Lyons cloth - children invited to a little Tumleys party -

Sunday Dec 6th

It is cloudy and looks like snow - children a little better - Mr Badger gone to church - we will not get off to night children not well enough Father Badger and Ella called to see me -

Monday Dec 7th 1862

I was busy all day making preparations to leave to night. children still very unwell. Belle with severe earache. at half past six we had a hack and went to the Depot with five children 2 servants 6 trunks and myself. I Took leave of Mr Badger and Octave and got into the sleeping Car and started without an escort. we travelled all night safe -- all slept well but Ada. she had a bad headache and sick stomach. I sat up with her almost all night. at five in the morning we arrived at Indianapolis. all feeling moderately well -
