Established a Church here. In our walk of a few blocks to night we saw a great many beggars, some of them Unclear in Vera Cruz. Unclear sentence due to torn paper her troupe seem to have taken possession of it, & with their three or four pet dogs make it quite lively. 24th Sunday, Had breakfast at 10, which consisted of soup, then boiled eggs, then fish & artichokes, then beef steak & potatoes, coffee and fruit.
