Have just passed a larger ship from Breman, waiting for a Steam tug to take it up to N. O. Arrived at Port Eads at 3-35 this afternoon--it is at the mouth of the South Pass & consists of the a light house & about a dozen houses with coal barges & steam tugs lying around loose--There are quite a number of vessels here, Port Eads seems to lie on both sides of the pass--Can see the white caps on the water not far off, they are very suggestive of sea sickness. Well we shall see! We are approaching the breakers & can see distinctly where the Gulf & River meet.
