Utica Jany 7th--- 1827

Dear Sir, I wrote & sent you a letter a few days since from this place, and since its departure have we re'd yours of the 24th inst, which was forwarded from Albany. The "Commision" named in it is flattering to me, and, though I refuse all orders, I will attend to it in the best manner that I can, though it may be somewhat inconvenient for me to do so. I have had within the last year more orders than I could have painted but I have refused all of them, as I have more of my own orders than I can attend to for some time to come. I have but a moment to spare, as the Bearer of this waits - Our best wishes for thee & thine. truly yours Geo. Catlin
