On the 14th we reached Fort Mellon in the morning.  We gave Genl Jessup the whole history of our trip.  He immediately ordered for Micanopy & the others to be taken prisoners; strikeout even those that had come in under our white flag and also those that we had prevailed on, strikeout: which while we were waiting for Tarskeekee, near the deep creek, and several others that had come after hearing of our being there as peacemakers.  The whole number that was put inprison was seventy two; men, women and children.  The deputation asked Gen: Jessup the privilege of explaining to Micanopy & other prisoners, that their mission was not connected in their capture.  Gen: Jessup refused to grant it.  They then asked him to explain to them.  He also refused to do so.  However, he said, the deputation might see them at Saint Augustine Fort.  Gen: Jessup then sent the prisoners to St Augustine in Steam Boat Santee.   left margin: "  15.  On the 15th, we then addressed him in writing on taking leave of him; and in it, we also mentioned the capture of Micanopy & othgers, which will show for itself.  He also refused in writing, which also will show for itself.   left margin: "  16.   On the 16th, he also showed us a letter that he had wrote to strikeout: us the Secretary of strikeout: State War, concerning our conduct in our mission & as individuals, which copy you now have in your possession.  We then left Fort Mellon for St Augustine in Steam Boat Camden.   left margin: "  17.  On the 17th we reached St Augustine.  We saw Micanopy and the other prisoners marched into the Fort at St Augustine.
