"Between Nootka sound and Cook's river, in the 57th degree of north latitude, in the hieroglyphic paintings on Cook's river, a harp is represented. They did not represent an imaginary figure, which accidentally turned out to be exactly similar to the harp of the Hindoos. They must have learned it from the people of Asia. The vina, or harp, of the Hindoos, was a musical instrument, greatly in fashion in India in ancient times, as it was also in Palestine in the times of David, Solomon, Isaiah and Ezekiel.
