Brainerd Cherokee Nation Dec 29 1829 Dear Ladies Among the articles that was sent from a christian land a bundle came from a society in the town where you reside for the school at this station. Mrs Parker has requested some of the scholars to write to those ladies who send it and my teacher gave me leave. We thank you very very much for what you have sent and I hope it will do good to the nation. If christian people at the north did not send things I do not know what would become of this school and all the schools that are in this nation. I think that the cherokees do more for the support of their children in giving them clothes than they ever have done and we think that they are doing better evry year I think that this nation will be civilized so that this people can teach themselves as the white people do in the their own country. Do you ever think sometimes of visiting this place and become missionaries we should be very happy to see you here. With much respect your young friend Lucy. A C Reece
