326 Cherokee Nation Red Clay, 23 October. 1835. To the Honorable John Ross, Principle Chief, The undersigned Agents, authorized by a resolution of the General Council, for receiving claims and unclear, proceded to business in unclear on the 11th of August last, and on the 13th were arrested by the Georgia guard, as we understood, for a violation of a special law of the State of Georgia; our book of record was also taken unclear the papers containing such unclear as we had collected, in establishing the claims received. We were taken to Spring Place the same day, kept in confinement till the 23rd, then entered into bond with security for our appearance at Cass Court on Monday the 21st of September, and continued there the week without being called on to defend the charged alledged, and the court ordered our discharge from the unclear. These inconsistances and arbitrary proceeding of the State of unclear, have placed it out and our power to furnish the Council and the principle chief with a copy of our acts and doings as agents unclear.
