To Miss M Mayer and John Ridge Red Clay CN Oct 19th 1835. Sir, This is to inform you that I have chosen Miss George M. Waters, Richard Taylor and John Martin, to hold a conference with you on the subject of my letter of the 30th of July last, and it is sincerely to be hoped that the best interests and welfare of our nation, alone may influece your deliberations on this important occasion. Dear Sir, We have received your note of this days' date, by the hand of Judge martin's informing us of the appointment of Miss George M Waters, Richard Taylor and John Martin to hold a conference with us on the subject of your letter of the 30th July last. We receive this notification with pleasure and will meet the gentlemen chosen in the conference impelled by feelings of grave affection and regard for the interests and welfare of our nation. We, however, request must respectfully that the conferees may consist of five members each, in consideration of the greatness of the subject upon which they are about to consider.
