tho' it is the voice of the whole nation, that we are come to speak for them and the whole land. - We have not come to speak for ourselves, but for them that have sent us. They have not sent us without invitation." Wednesday Morning June 11th. 1794. Statement of facts which concern the Cherokee Indians. 1st. Our situation is as follows.- We are a people that Template:Unclear near neighbours to the Creek Indians who are always at war with the white people and will not keep their treaties either with white or red people. - By their being more powerful than us they pass and repass through our country in a hostile manner going to war with the Cumberland, Kentuckey the new state, South Carolina and Georgia, and when they are pursued by the white people by their going thro' our nation our people are killed for the crimes they have committed. By his means we have neither peace nor war. 4thly. We are therefore obliged to apply to other nations of red people for liberty to hunt on their land and not withstanding we are reduced to a small shot of land, just to make Template:Unclear other provision, the white people of the new state will not let us have peace to raise our children. We have therefore come to our father. The
