for two years under the proceedings of the General Council. at Amahee on the 6th of May 1817, as aforesaid, consisted, not of the persons named by Mr Schermerhorn, but of the following individuals, to Template:Unclear- Callin Smith, Richard Taylor, John Walker, Richard Brown, Helechula, Walter Adain, James Brown, George Sowry, Sleeping Rabbit, George Sanders and Template:Unclear Wilson, Secretary. There has been since several changes, of course, by new elections Template:Unclear Template:Unclear but all by the voice of the people, and the approbation of the rightful chiefs. It will be seen from the 1st Article that the lands ceded under this Treaty is "in full satisfaction of all claims the United States have on the Cherokee Nation, on account of the cession to a part of the nation who have, or may hereafter emigrate to the Arkansas; and this treaty is a final adjustment of that of the 8th of July 1817." And the 5th Article stipulates that "all white people who have intruded, or may intrude, on the lands reserved for the Cherokee Nation, shall be removed by the United States and proceeded against according to the provisions of the Act passed 30th March 1802, entitled "an act to regulate trade and intercourse with the Indian tribes, and to preserve peace on the frontiers."
