Echota 5th July 1827 A McCoy, Secry John Ross P to Convention Convention

Resolved by the National Committee & Council that a person be appointed whose duty it shall be to edit a weekly newspaper at New Echota to be styled the Cherokee Phoenix. And also to translate matter in the Cherokee Language for the columns of said paper as well as for the translation of all public documents which may be submitte for publication, and that the sum of Three Hundred Dollars per annum be allowed to Said Edition & Translator for his services. Resolved by the National Committee & Council that unclear H. Harris be and is hereby appointed principal printer for the Cherokee Nation, and that his salary shall be Four Hundred Dollars a year, and that his duty shall be to attend to the printing of a paper to be printed at New Echota, and it shall be further the duty of said Harris to employ and he is hereby authorized to employ a journeyman printer of sober, steady, habits, in behalf of the Cherokee Nation, in order that the aforesaid paper may be successfully carried into effect; and Be it Further Resolved that
