On returning from water the priest went to the altar where the sacrifice had been burnt the morning before, took some white ashes on the palm of his right hand, and rubbed it up his breast, face & forehead: and ordered each to do the same. He again offered sacrifice, prayed, & the people ate & danced as the day before. On the morning of the next day, at daybreak, all turned towards the east, raised the right hand as high as the head, with the palm to the east. The priest did the same, & prayed, as on the morning previous. And just at sunrise he ordered them all to the stream, where they plunged seven times, with the head first toward the east, then toward the N. East - then North etc in almost every direction. The men plunged first and then the women and children. When they plunge the hands must be near the breast so that the ends of the fingers would touch it. The bounds for bathing were fixed by the priest. Nutsawi
