  As mortal diseases were supposed to arise from the displeasure of God, when any such diseases made their appearance the people resorted to the Ho hu na for which God had directed them to do this. Therefore the above feast was celebrated. The yowa sung etc. at any time of the year when any mortal disease was feared. But when it was observed as a mere preventative of sickness there was in some respects a little variation.
