21 In Roane County, Tennessee, an Indictment for Larceny in stealing a hog was tried before Squire Solomon Geerin. The evidence being heard, the Counsel for the state and for the defendant, requested the Court to change the Jury whether the offense, as proved, was in war not Larceny in (?) of Law "This court does not like to charge the Jury" said Justing Geerin with a perplexed and frightened stare; and perceiving that no one stirred and offered to help him out of the scrape, he proceeded "but through this Court (?) do not like the charge the Jury, if the gentlemen of the Bain insists on it, their Court will charge the Jury" Said the Counsel "Ive insist" The Justice coughed and stammered and then whispered a while with the other members of the Court, and suddenly seemed (?) with a new brilliant thought and his face brightened up and he fetched a loud, attention!
