1839. Sept. 6 continued. shall, before he takes his seat, affirm or swear, that his election was not obtained by bribery, treats, or any un-due and unlawful means and by him-self or others by his desire a approba-tion for that purpose; that he consider himself constitutionally qualified; that on all questions and measures which may come before him he will so give his vote and so conduct himself as in his judg-ment shall appear must conducive to the interest and prosperity if his na-tion and that he will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and to the utmost of his ability and power observe, conform to, support and defend the constitution thereof.-
