It will be seen from the 1st Article that the lands ceded under this Treaty is "in full satisfaction of all claims the United States have on the Cherokee Nation, on account of the cession to a part of the nation who have, or may hereafter emigrate to the Arkansas; and this treaty is a final adjustment of that of the 8th of July 1817." And the 5th Article stipulates that "all white people who have intruded, or may intrude, on the lands reserved for the Cherokee Nation, shall be removed by the United States and proceeded against according to the provisions of the Act passed 30th March 1802, entitled "an act to regulate trade and intercourse with the Indian tribes, and to preserve peace on the frontiers." There are, no doubt, many persons who registered their names in the agents office for reservations previous to the treaty of 1819 and whose residence did not
