Your theory re. Dreiser incident is most interesting and convincing. I hope that Mr. D, in his silent, enduring way, will not entirely ignore it all when he returns. I am so glad to find you tolerant about it. The Phoenix Book Shop here, as you no doubt know, is preparing a bibliography or your things for their next catalogue. Like most people, they had condemned Dreiser; but they were delighted, not only with your theory, but also with your attitude when I told them. Their shop was where I found "Mid American Chants" after having hunted for it for over a year. Haven't had a second to read any of it yet. In fact, there are at least three of your books still in store for me. I'll really be sorry when I have read them all and actually caught up with your production- although, unlike most of today's writing, your things stand the gaff? of reading over and over, a good proof that they will "live".
