Today met with 8 or 19 New sorts of Prairie flowers some were beautiful. Camped 2 miles ? about head of Mexican OK ? - Thursday 9th We are now on the Main Rd, having the 'Settlements' on our left - Water Lily in great abundance & beauty in Water holes & heads of Creeks - (Kowampopin Indian for Water Lily). Around on the ? 8 to 9 miles from camp - There is no scarcity of snakes about but the plant cotton rattlesnake Master is in great abundance the root is ? - It has the taste of a strong bitter ?
