126 During the Spring assizes, it was expected that there would be a very interesting trial, namely of a woman for the murder of her husband. The case was that the husband had given her cause to be jealous upon which in a paroxysm of jealous rage - she shot him. The Coroners inquest found her guilty of Murder & she was incarcerated until the Assizes should open.* Judge [?Morriss?] opened the court - then followed the entry of Marines into San Antonio, the Judge, gentlemen of the bar & the principal officers of Court were off to the Army - the Woman who was about to be tried for Murder, was bailed - she went up the country to her friends - & in all probability when called upon would be 'Non insentus.'

   The following occurred in Galveston lately - A [?] one whose brother had been hung for murder in the [?] & he himself had the [?] X  What record of a fellow was beating his wife early one morning.  An industrious citizen was passing by on the way to his Store, when the woman cried out for help to him as he was passing by requesting him to go for the Sheriff.
