Dear Sherwood: It was good to get your letter. Somehow I got the idea you had gone to Russia. I hope to God [[Romain Rollands?] efforts accomplish something. It is amazing with the last war fresh in our minds that we should still head for a new one. It is a hard thing tho to decide. If other nations feel warlike and bullying you don't want to be caught with your pants down but I think that military training and preparedness tends to feed that same warlike aggressive spirit. These loud mouthed generals with their shallow patriotism give me a pain.
