My dear Adelaide,
I arrived here after a long but pleasant
voyage I suppose I need not tell you that I was sea sick terribly so. So much so that I had to keep my (?) the greater portion of my time but I think you can better imagine than I can describe (.) I am now staying at a place called Rio (janerio) on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. All the large cities are along the coast(.) Brazil included the entire (?) land of Brazil and nearly all of the forest /plains/ of the Amazon it is therefore richer in (vegetation) than any other part of South America that
