time Farrar himself would come to town to meet me.  I waited.  In January I grew impatient.  Brent said Farrar would come Feb 15.  That date came and went.  I asked if I should contact Farrar.  Brent said no, he would handle it.  Finally since Brent seemed so evasive I wrote a letter to Farrar Straus asking for the reasons for rejection and what their readers had said.  They responded that my ms. had never been in their office and that they knew nothing of it.  They had had a correspondence with Brent, but there was no mention of me in it.  Dute, eh?

time Farrar himself would come to town to meet me. Cute, eh? My best, Janice
