Cornelia read the story of the old Minneapolis druggist and got a kick out of it. The pundits in the East that have examined it criticized it mainly on the score that it is "not a novel." I think the title is against it. "Lone Men Write Fairy Stories" sounds like a collection of pipe dreams -- and of course it is largely that But it is a unified story. I think Ill call it "Ves Walmsley is Crazy"

2 things since I began Eve Watson. One thing I'm more certain of: The women I know-suburban bourgeoisie, Dill Pickle-women, artist, business women, are basically motivated by the same instincts, to a far more pronounced degree than men. That is the difference among women is more largely a matter of externals or accident My typist says they are far more simple than I think -- but she didn't know what I thought. I am a little chary of hard and fast conclusions.

The story gets on. The form has certainly tightened in this third attempt. Ill feel better about offering it this fall or winter.

I think the title is against it. "Some Men Write Fairy Stories" sounds like a collection of pipe dreams -- and of course it is largely that But it is a unified story. I think Ill call it "Ves Walmsley is Crazy"
