23rd Spent about half the day at Shawneetown talking in | 23rd Spent about half the day at Shawneetown talking in freight, the most of which was composed of coops of chickens. They were so crowded together that many of the chickens died & were thrown over board, The conditions of these poor crowded chickens kept me from going on deck as much as I otherwise would. |
