Jan 2 | Jan 3rd Rainy & unpleasant. Am feeling first rate. Rode up town intending to call upon Mrs. Grove but the rain prevented. Called at the Genls House Col Milloy. Saw Cadle & learned Genl Sul Crocker was in town. No news—no letters & no papers. My "Sky [unclear]" left this morning I think. Retire early to read in bed. Grizzly is quietly sleeping | ||

Memoranda Jan 1st Very cold & unpleasant Spent the entire day in my tent. At night went to the Generals to a Reunion. Fine drunken time. A good many there. Fine table Plenty to drink Dancing.
