Visited the Springs that form San Pedro creek, the waters gush out in great quantities from the 'rotten limestone' rock which said rock appears to have been formed from probably the primitive limestone of the interior. Fossil shells of the Ammonite & other species are said to have been found in the San Antonio river. Some twenty five miles from San Antonio there are very extensive sulphur springs which are in considerable repute for scorbutic patients, the principal spring bubbling up with such force, & although very deep, a person throwing himself in can only sink up to his waist. | |||
