with them in their lonely scattered situation in a wilderness Country--may the Lord be with them in their various Exercises was the [[beathing?}} prayers for them. 30 6 Spent most of the Day at Benjamin Wilsons,and paid him £4 for keeping our horses. 31 7 We rode up to Windeckers's Ferry near fort Erie, but not having a pass from the Governor, we were prevented crossing. I rode about a mile up the Lake & obtained one from Capt: Pratt, In the evening we crossed in a small Boat, the sea running high & the current strong made it look dangerous, but through favour we landed Safe at the black Rock, on the shore of the United States, and rode along the beach, which with the extensive prospect, rolling & sound of surf impressed our Minds with awfulness--In riding about 3 miles we came to Cornelius Winney's and took Quaters.
