Mon 25th  Still in the canon saw several Indians and 2 trading posts. Entered the main canon a large creek in it which we had to cross 18 times. Camped 1/2 mile from where we leave the canon to ascend the mount.  Scott boys

Here the creek had been dammed by the mormons & more fortifications - we had to go 4 1/2 miles up a very steep [? at?] that reached the summit at noon. here can be seen the immense valley of Salt Lake
