Camped 1/2 mile from where we leave the cañon to ascend the mount. Scott boys broke a wheel - bought our feed or pasture from the Mormons - Dis 15 1026 Tues 26th Here the creek had been dammed by the mormons & more fortifications - we had to go 4 1/2 miles up a very steep [? at?] that reached the summit at noon. here can be seen the immense valley of Salt Lake
