Colonel,

Your letter of the 6th inst., reporting capture of three Mexicans and two Negroes, claiming to be soldiers of the Mexican Army, driven to this side the river by Revolutionists - but reported to be marauders and Cattle-thieves, is received.
The Commanding General directs that you retain them as prisoners until further orders, taking charge of all arms and other property found with them.
He also desires, that you forward a list of their names and the command, they claim to belong to, and when and where they were driven across the river. Forward also the statement of the American Consul - Mr. Schuhardt - concerning these men and all other information, you can obtain, bearing on this case.
                                              Very respectfully
                                              Your obdt. servant
                                    (Sgd) J. A. Augur
