The Four Cries of a Patriot
to the Nation
Translated by Mikaela Rogers Ziegler & Sarah Acklen
In this moment in time, it is essential for patriots to make themselves heard. If the sounds so violently articulated cannot weaken the organs of vanity or indolence, these organs do not have ears for the wisest advice: their minds remain closed to reason, their hearts to humanity: Let us cry out, as cries guide the spirit, let us cry out; the voices of humanity must be tireless, so they do not get lost in the wilderness.
TO THE REPRESENTATIVES. FIRST CRY Progress must come slowly on the important work of the Constitution.
