Dear Jack:

[Text on back of postcard:] Marker erected to mark the site of Stephen Fay's historic tavern, erected about 1769. In the tavern Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys used to gather. The Council of Safety met there, 1777-1778. The name "Catamount Tavern" was applies to it at a very late date. The marker is not on the exact site of the tavern, the West front of which was forty-five feet East of the rear side of the marker.

It's clear that taverns and revolutions hatch each other. O nasty fact! AAly yrs - Joe Diggles
