Dear Friends:

Thank you very much indeed for your kind thoughts toward me and Mabel at this

time. I trust you are both tolerably well.

It was inevitable, but I would like to tell more about the tragedy when I see you.

Brain, heart, lungs, spine, plus pneumonia at last were affected. Her sister - no one ever had a more generous or loving one - is taking it dreadfully hard. As I'm temporarily at loose end after being nurse, cook and housekeeper, 9 months I have the time and some spare cash, so plan to take one of those 14-21 day air trips to England, where I'll see her. Her birthday is April 24, so I'll try to get up a little party for her in Brighton

My son and his wife and daughter came for the funeral (his 3rd trip since last summer), and my

daughter came with them. She lives in the same town. I wonder if I may come to see you (bringing my own Ham!), and do you think when I return (over)
