[upside down at top] The boys have a notion of getting up an Ehhibition, at the close of this term, and will want me to help them about it, I expect. What it to be done about it I dont know how or what yet [[? Money or time or home what? or nothing?]] Dear Mother and Sister etc.

I hope you have not quite forgotten me, but it is a good while since I received a real letter from Milo, the last was, I believe, from Joseph, about the middle of last month: I am afraid I shall not get along as well about letters now Joseph is gone. I really expected a good long letter when Charles came down. Charles got in here in the morning but I did not see him till after dinner, most 2, oclock, and just before he started for home. The 'Tremont' with the potatoes and all on board, started from here Teusday night or Wednesday morning, James recieved a letter 'or newspaper' from Mass. a few days since,

which informed him that a letter that he sent by Joseph had arrived there. So I concluded that Joseph had probably arrived safe, sometime! Mr. Buckingham, the orientall traveller, has been lecturing here on the Holy Land, Syria etc. (you will remember extracts from his lecture published in the Mirror, last winter) At his introductory lecture, (free), the meeting here was 'chock full' standing up and all, and lots went away. The single tickets for the course were sold at $1,50 apeice, But the next day, (before the lectures commenced) Mr. Worcester recieved a note from Mr. B. informing him that his scholars might recieve tickets for ,50 the course, if their money forward through him Mr W. & Mr. B. himself. A very large number of the scholars, of whom I was one, accepted the proposition, and I have attended the lectures, although I dont know as I Ought to have spend the money. ? The Lectures were useful, and instructive, and very well attended, I believe. Mr. B. also gave a temperance lecture here. A committee off over 20, containing 5 ministers' (Mr. Pomroy), 2 Prof. Judges, Doctors, Representatives etc. was formed to express thanks and so forth. [upside down] Eliab, how many more muskrats? have you killed, especially Partridges?
