    When the sun was yet some time hours high, the Oole, stool, eeh's right hand man directed all to repair to the water. While they stood on the bank, the Oole, stool, eeh prayed for them and ordered them to bathe. The men turned a little up the stream,, and the women and children down, and all waded in, and standing with the face towards the east, plunged entirely under water. Then, turning quickly to the west, they plunged again in the same manner; and afterwards to the east, and so on, till they had plunged seven times. It is said that the Being Who Dwells Above had ordered them to do this; and not to wipe the water from their faces, till they had plunged seven times. Some entered the water with old clothes on, and, while in let them swim away; __ thus taking all impurities with them; and they assumed new clothes which were in readiness for them on coming out. Others retained their former clothes till after bathing; when they changed them for dry ones; so that, on returning to the National Heptagon, all were newly clad. On leaving the water, the Oole, stool, eeh, and his right hand man, walked behind.
