Visited the Library which is a very thick stone-walled building, very old having been at one time a Church. We here saw the tomb of the Wife of Cortez and read the inscription on the slab--she died 18th Dec. 1668--In the LIbrary was quite a collection Aztec curiosities among them Iron stirrups each weighing several pounds. Dr Trowbridge, the American consul here took us up to his house, where we met his Wife & daughters. I had an opportunity to see the interior of one of the houses--The stair way
