Jany 28th 1865.
My dear F'olly, After a silence which seemed to me like that death. I yesterday received your package of letter dated Jany 5th why they have not come thro' beforeI do not know. I answered Carry's note of the 4th of Jany on the day I received it which as well as I remember was the 10th I have written To you once since then and directed the letter to Capt Claggett's care. We are now staying at Roland's en route for Newberry for which place we leave Tomorrow. We were to have gone yesterday but thee cold was so severe and the wind was so high Mr Rhett Thought so long and cold a drive in the open buggy would make me ill. We go tomorrow. Our servants preceded us. All and unclear as unclear use with if the enemy leave us alone.
