I said I was disappointed in New York its streets are so narrow and one wonders how the people get by without jamming out each others ribs, but they have a faculty in New York for disappearing into snall space and coming and going and not jostling their neighbors That is one feature of New York which I like. The harbor is full of ships which seem to be ready for action yet the riggings are all stripped, and no life on board that seems to be indicative of an alertness.
