    The same order will be observed in our present review, which governed us in the preceding one; _____ viz: we shall first notice the Six Festivals of the regular series, as changed by time or carelessness, _____ and afterwards the new aspect given to the occasional ones. _____

              First:                                                                                                                                                                    The Festival

of the First New Moon of Spring:

                We have not been apprized of any express ceremonial permission for this Festival in the different towns; but that such minor celebrations was both officially authorised and practised, can scarcely admit of question, when we find that families who could not attend the great one at the metropolis and who knew how to proceed, were countenanced in keeping a form of it in their private dwellings, which was as follows: 
    The master of the house obtained a buckskin dressed white and spread it before the fire. He killed fowls, or other animals, to obtain what meat the family could eat at a meal. He took some of the blood and drew a streak of fresh blood from the head to the tail.
