At Ellen Davies' Tuesday Dec. 26, 1882

My dear Sister, I brought a pencil and paper that I might send you the check- I send both of them in this- The smaller one for you to use for Christmas (underlined) for yourself or anyone and us, just as you like- We were down at Jane's last evening to a goose supper and today we have come here for a duck dinner (underlined). Anna is much better since the weather is so mild- tho' she finds it takes about all her strength to come out two days in succession! It is so pleasant- and we had promised Ellen we would come if we could. Anna walked over to Robbie's Sunday before
