Private Camden County January 14th 1813 Dear Governor I have been at a loss to what cause to attribute your long silence, on the subject of the Contemptadio Expedition against the Seminole Indians; more Especially as I have been informed by the Representatives from this County, that the Legislature had in addition to the Contingent fund appropriated thirty thousand Dollars for the purpose of defraying such War measures, as you in your Judgment might think proper to prosecute; And further, that at the close of the Session, you did express your determination to Carry into Execution the promised Expedition, and that to effect it, the men would be marched without delay; Not hearing any thing from you on the subject, leads to the inference, that the Legislature has not given you the talked of Latitude, or that I am not to be concerned in it. I cannot however restrain the Expression of regret which I feel at no means being provided to second the Effort of the volunteers from Tennassee whose Patriotism led them as it would seem to our assistance; They arrived at Camp Pinckney (alias) McGerts Ferry on Sunday last and will I presume be ordered on immediately to the Macasuckie Towns while two Companies of Infantry will follow with provisions on Pack Horses, taking the Alachaways in their Route and affording
