At the same time the town's people assembled, each family fetching some of every kind of green fruit, duly prepared for eating. This they placed in the store house; whence each family took a piece of the barbacued meat brought in by the hunters and returned home.

    At night, all re-assembled at the Town Council House, and brought the barbacued meat, without having tasted it, and put it back where they had received it. The priest then proceeded to offer the sacrifice. This was done as follows:
    The priest had a structure, or a sacred room, into which no one might enter but himself and his right hand man. The right hand man having most carefully swept this sacred room, raised a smooth topped altar of fresh earth in its centre,around which he drew a circle including a sufficient space for the fire. He then lighted the fire of the various barks selected and arranged as at the Fstival of the First New Moon of Spring. The priest then proceeded to offer the sacrifice and to give thanks and to pray Ye, Ye,? as at the Great, a national: Sah, look, stu, knee, keeh, steh stech, -- the preliminary or New Green Corn Feast. --                              At
