The meeting above mentioned, took place; but a delegation had been appointed to Washington for which place they had to depart upon their resources; and it was not until after their arrival there strikeout that the payment was made, and then not in full, to the National Treasurer; this took place on the 17th of December 1834. The events of this winter's negociation at Washington will be noticed elsewhere. One feature of the treatment which the Delegation encountered there, shows how deeply the desire of crippling them by pecuniary privations, had interwoven itself with the policy of the reigning powers. They were soon followed in Washington by the faction go up by government and consequently by government sustained.
