That Capt. David McNair, Robert Rogers and Elijah Hicks, be, and they are hereby, appointed agents, whose duty shall be to traverse the Cherokee Nation, and ascertain what improvements have been taken from the Cherokees & those which may be hereafter taken, by the citizens of the United States, under State authority or otherwise and value the same and keep a true memorandum of the number of such improvements and of their several valuations & report the same to the Principal Chief: And be it further Resolved that the said agents shall act under oath, and in no case shall they act seperately, in making valuations,- and in all cases in which fraud is apprehended, they shall report thereof to the Principal Chief, in order that the same may be laid before the General Council. Said agents, while in service, shall be paid two dollars per day each, as well as all those who may be appointed hereafter by the Principal Chief. And be it further Resolved, that authority be, and the same is hereby, given to the Principal Chief, to appoint such a number of persons as he may think proper, whose duty shall be to collect and register claims (and evidence in support of the same) of the citizens of the nation against the United States for spoliation &c;- such as claims for property stolen, or otherwise illegally taken, by the citizens of the United Stats,- claims for Lawyers' fees & costs of lawsuits,- claims for rents of land exacted under the Georgia Laws:- And, be it further Resolved that said agents shall ascertain as near as they can, the amount of gold which has been extracted by the people of the states from the Lands of the Nation, and report the same to the Principal Chief, as well as all their acts & doings, as soon as may be, that the same may be laid before the General Council: And, be it further Resolved, that, in case any of the agents named in this resolutions, should refuse to serve, the
