November Tuesday 24 1863

Cool but pleasant day __ No remarkable incidents__ Cannonading  heard in the middle of the day __ Troops arrived last night from Natchez {Ferage?] came in steamer Sultana I am informed__ Read paper of the 16th _ no remarkable news_- Heavy rain last night__ camp dry however today
Have not been up town for some days fo the reason that I would not ride a starving horse

Wednesday 25 Pleasant day _- Capt Mc Alheny returned to day__ Cannonading heard to day though only a few shots__ Rec'd late papers but little news Genl Thomas is in town again__{unclear.....] received a rebuff from the General who told him he had "nothing for him" Good! Maj on Board of [Survey?] Thursday 26 Thanksgiving day__ celebrated in the eating of a turkey__ Capts Picket & Banks ate with us__ Rode up tow & called on Col Lieb & Capt [unclear] Wished to see Genl Thomas but was unable to do so __ Called at the picture gallery & bought some pictures__ Very little news & but few rumors__ Pleasant day
