Monday June 7th 1875 This has been a lovely day. clear and beautiful all of us well. Mr Angell came up to breakfast with us. and stayed untill 12, then he and Mr Harvey went out to Graceland to be with Eva. at five O, clock Dr Kelly and Dr Locke came to note left margin: Christening baptise the babies, Mr Wm Angell and Mr George Pullman, Mr Hilton and Father Badger and Ella all came to the Christening. Mr Angell thought it best to have it done, while Mr Shreve and Mr & Mrs Faulds, and Mattie were here, so the service was at five, and the oldest twin was named Ada Badger and the one three hours younger called Belle Badger. it was sad to see the dear little ones without a Mother. My little Grandbaby Belle Kearney was present. at seven O, clock my two Sisters and Mr Faulds returned back to Louisville, they came up to attend Eva,s funeral letters of Sympathy still continue to come, hearts bleed for us everywhere, Tuesday June 8th 1875 This has been a lovely day. all of us well. I only wish my heart was as happy as it has been for twenty or more years. my I am sad and broken, hearted, I try to eat, but my heart is sick. I have been so happy that I am afraid I was not grateful enough. My beautiful good Eva is gone. and the music of our house is hushed, my poor children who are left feel sad and lonely. my poor Belle & Ada my heart goes out now to them. my three boys are so full of life that they cant Sorrow, May they never feel what I now feel. is my prayer. Oh, if my beautiful Eva was here, all would be well. but her sweet voice is hushed, never more to be heard on earth her dear little twins are doing well. I went at note left margin: Cemetary three O, clock to Graceland to see poor Eva s grave with Mr Badger Sheridan Shreve Tom, Ada and Hunt. Belle soon came in her Carriage so did Mr Angell. Belle,s baby has cold. and she is not well. letters of Sympathy still come.
